지진 소식 전합니다. 5.4 Quake In Southeast Korea Causes Some Minor Damage. . A rare 5.4 magnitude earthquake hit 9 kilometers north of Pohang in North Gyeongsang Province at around 2:30 p.m. this afternoon. . The tremor was felt across the nation including Seoul and Jeju. . Authorities are getting reports of broken windows and crumbled walls near the epicenter with about a dozen people sustaining light injuries. . a series of aftershocks of between 2 to 4.0 magnitude followed the initial 5.4 quake, including a 4.6 magnitude aftershock detected about 8 kilometers north of Pohang about an hour ago. . The earthquake was the second-strongest quake ever to hit Korea after last year's magnitude 5.8 earthquake in the nearby city of Gyeongju. . Local media showed crumbled walls piled on parked cars, and some buildings, including one at Handong Global University saw part of their outer walls come off and fall to the ground. . Many windows were also seen broken. . It also caused brief disruptions in Internet and other communication services. . Hundred of citizens in Pohang were ordered to evacuate to a safe area. . According to the National Fire Agency, at least seven people sustained light injuries associated with the quake. . The interior ministry has issued the level-1 emergency standby mode for civil servants. . President Moon Jae-in who has returned from his Southeast Asia trip, ordered to convene a meeting to his aides to discuss the situation. . The state nuclear operator said six nuclear reactors in Gyeongju, as well as other reactors on the southeastern coast were not affected and are all functioning normally. . But officials added that they will conduct an in-depth inspection and release the result as they become available. .
